That Jesus Christ was involved in the creation is established both in the Old Testament (Proverbs 7) and in the New (John 1). But the usual view of the doctrine of the Trinity as 'difficult' (which it isn't) pushed its replacement by the idea of the Persons of the Trinity being separate roles (modalism, for the technical) embodied in 'creeds' like
We believe in God the Father, who made the world
We believe in Jesus Christ, His Son, who redeemed humankind(sic)
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who gives life to the people of God
which while, taken absolutely literally, is not heretical, does rather strongly suggest that the Father is not involved in redemption or sanctification, the Son not involved in creation or sanctification, and the Spirit not involved in creation or redemption - all six being false.
In fact, it encourages the view that the Father is defined as 'God as creator', the Son is defined as 'God as redeemer' and the Spirit is defined as 'God the sanctifier' - which is straight modalism, and very congenial to those who would actually like to get rid of the Son and the Spirit altogether.
Consequently, the recovery of the role of Jesus as creator caused a certain amount of aggro and throwing of muck. In particular there were claims that the idea of Jesus as creator - the phrase 'the Cosmic Christ' crawled out of somewhere; to judge by the yuckiness of wording, probably California - was an attempt to give a Christian veneer to so-called 'New Age' ideas of an emergent God.
Now, where there's muck there's brass, and nowhere more so than in American theology. Soon several theologians had grabbed the chance to do precisely what they had been accused of; to use the slogan of of the 'Cosmic Christ' as a veneer for 'New Age' ideas. And a nice little earner it has been. But this of course 'proved' to the semimodalists that they had been right all along, and that the idea that Jesus has a role in creation is 'New Age' heresy. A classic con, classically executed.
We can no doubt expect - perhaps already have - claims that to recognise the role of the Father and the Spirit in redemption is in effect to equate Jesus Christ with the Creator and therefore are but another manifestation of the 'cosmic Christ'; claims that to recognise the role of the Father and the Son in a Christian's daily walk is in effect to equate Jesus Christ with the Creator and therefore are but another manifestation of the 'cosmic Christ'; claims that to recognise the role of the Spirit in creation is in effect to set up a 'cosmic Spirit'.
Oh, but we must remember that any reference to the Spirit in any context is to be regarded as 'charismatic' and therefore papist and heretical.
Let's just restate the correct view of the Trinity here - and I won't try to justify it; go and buy your own theology books! The basic truth is that God is One. But within that Oneness there is structure; a threefold structure expressed in the wellknown phrase 'tres personae in una substantia' - three masks on one stand. (Theologians do not understand Latin words of more than two syllables, so they simply copy them parrot fashion: hence the usual form in what passes among theological students for English is 'three persons in one substance'. I prefer to translate into real English.) The three parts of that structure are the Father, the Son, and the Spirit. They manifest to us generally as separate - that is, we usually can not see the underlying unity - and in many of God's works we see one part more clearly than we see the others; but the basic truth is that God is one - the three parts can never be completely separate in fact, and therefore in fact all three are involved in all that God does.
True, the baby born at Bethlehem, killed on Calvary and who rose again was indeed God the Son (as well as being a complete human being). That did not mean that God the Father and God the Spirit were not involved in the situation as well - quite the opposite, as the Gospels make crystal clear. And similarly in creation, it is the Father that we see most clearly; but that both the Son and the Spirit were active is again made crystal clear in the Bible.
